I have been listening to the Right Body for you Book Club with Donnielle Carter for the past 8 weeks. I am enjoying the weekly book club and it really has been helping me re look at how I treat my body, not so much by what I eat, but by what I think!

On my previous blog I wrote about how I finally cut out milk and have been having cream in my coffee. Recently I have also started using Almond Milk. My body is feeling so much better.

Fasting

About a week ago I had the urge to try fasting specifically the 16/8 ratio. I really am feeling so much more in tune with my body so I decided to give it a go. It was so much easier than I thought it would be. My last meal was dinner and then I ate lunch at 13h00 the next day and my body really enjoyed this break from breakfast, I even lost 2 kg – Yay! One definitely has to keep the water intake up while fasting, I found that I got very thirsty. This week I have not felt like fasting, so I am taking that as a sign that my body is not wanting that right now.

Keto Way of Eating

While fasting last week, I did some Googling! This past weekend I really felt compelled to eat more of a Keto Diet, so I spent a lot of the weekend watching YouTube videos by Thomas DeLauer. He is so passionate and knowledgeable about the Keto way of eating – it definitely makes for easy watching! I have generally followed a low carb way of eating but have never stopped myself if I felt like Pizza or cake! So to go completely Keto is quite a biggy for me, but it just feels right. So again, I am going to trust my Body on this one and follow my instinct.

One of his YouTube videos I watched is Keto for Woman this is a great guideline. I have been using this week to prepare for this way of eating, but basically I have just really cut out all the carbs and have been buying more broccoli, cauliflower, spinach and pumpkin and lean cuts of meat. I have stocked up on more Coconut Oil, Coconut Cream and Avo Oil. I can’t believe how many Coconut products are not 100% Coconut. So many of them have Guar gum, Emulsifiers, Thickeners, etc. so it is so important to check the labels. I was looking for coconut cream and finally found a great brand called Biona Organic. In South Africa we don’t always have a huge selection available.

This past Sunday, for Fathers day, we had Rotisserie Chicken with CauliBroccoli Mash, a pumpkin and baby marrow oven bake (just some butter, cream and cinnamon) – it was so delicious.

Alcohol

A big adjustment, I would say is going to be cutting out Alcohol. For those who know Jason and myself, we love our red and white wine! So I am going to try and keep this to once a week, but not setting anything in stone and of course listening to my body! Vitamins and Supplements

Besides watching Thomas DeLauer YouTube videos, I have also been watching some by Ivor Cummins aka The Fat Emperor. Specifically this YouTube Video on Stopping and Reversing Heart Disease. So between these two knowledgeable people, I have also added some Vitamins and Supplements. I will do a separate Blog on what I am taking and why.

So watch this space, I hope this can be a contribution to you and your body. Please note that I am following what I feel my body wants right now and not forcing a new diet or for anyone to do the same. Only you will know what is right for your body.

This feels light for me right now and time will tell if this changes. The most important message is to listen to our bodies and be kind to our bodies.
